Without a doubt, the single most efficient entity in Seville's infrastructure is the vast street-cleaning army known as Lipasam. They're famous for whisking ankle-deep litter off the streets after the massive processions of Semana Santa, but I am most impressed with the humble street sweepers, who work the little back streets in my neighborhood. Here is the local street sweeper's bike tied up outside of a church, although I strongly suspect he is actually taking his break in the nearest café or bar. November 12, 2014, Seville, Spain.
My friend Alicia Bay Laurel writes: "Wanted to add this to your street sweeper blog post, but alas, there's no way to post a photo. Here's a photo of my friend Ken Foster, owner of Terra Nova Permaculture Landscaping, in Santa Cruz CA, on his way to work." A great photo, and many thanks to Alicia for sending it! If anyone else has pictures to share, please email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Always love to see what else is out there!
